
Programs - Licensed Practical Nursing - 1350 Hour Program (high school students, see the CNA program)
This program is designed to prepare Adult students for employment as licensed practical nurses and is approved by the Florida State Board of Nursing. Upon completion of the program, the graduate may apply to take the examination to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Students can also apply to take the Certified Nursing Assistant exam after completing the first 165 hours of the program.

Students are eligible to apply and take the Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses after successful completion of an approved program.
Courses
This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Health Science career cluster. This program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills to prepare students for employment in the health care industry.
The content includes theoretical instruction and clinical experience in medical, surgical, obstetric, pediatric, and geriatric nursing; theoretical instruction and clinical experience in both acute and long term in care various health care settings; theoretical instruction and clinical application of the vocational role and function; personal, family and community health concepts; nutrition; human growth and development over the life span; body structure and function; interpersonal relationship skills, mental health concepts; pharmacology and administration of medications; the legal aspects of practice; and current issues in nursing. Clinical experience must make up at least 50% of the total program. Clinical simulation may be used for no more than 25% of the total clinical experience.
Employers for clinical practicum experiences for the LPN students require no felony convictions. Adult students must obtain a report from FDLE (http://www.fdle.state.fl.us) and present a report at the time of registration. Drug testing is also required.
