Medical Terminology

This course teaches the basics of medical terminology for anyone needing a beginner or refresher course. The required text used is Medical Terminology for Health Professions 4 ed. It includes a student activity CD-ROM to be used in class and can also be used on a home computer. The student learns interchangeable word parts, prefixes, and suffixes that are used in many different combinations to "translate" and learn even the toughest medical terms.

Medical Transcription

This course uses skills gained in the Medical Terminology course to implement machine transcription of case studies. Purchase of textbook is required. Audio tapes are furnished for use in class transcription machine. Students will furnish their own simple headphones. Students will type on computers using MS Word Software. Very basic knowledge of word processing and typing skill of 35 WPM is highly recommended. This is a beginning medical transcription course.
