Computer Systems Technology
1650 Hour Program - 11 Credits

Computer Systems Technology, including A+ and Network+ certification, prepares students for careers in computer networking. Our instructors are industry certified professionals utilizing the latest “state of the art” electronic training equipment. Interactive curriculum software develops student computer skills and enhances the learning environment with visual and “hands-on” interaction.

A+ certification is the industry standard for validating vendor-neutral skills expected of an entry-level computer technician. Students gain a broad base of knowledge and competency in core hardware and operating system technologies including installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and basic networking.

Network+ certification is the worldwide standard of competency for professionals with experience in network support or administration. This certification validates critical knowledge of media and topologies, protocols and standards, network implementation and network support.

Networking
1050 Hour Program - 7 Credits

Network Support Systems provides students with Internet technology skills essential in today’s global economy by utilizing on-line coursework developed by Cisco Systems. The curriculum utilizes hands-on, skills-based training to prepare students for the industry-recognized Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification exam. The CCNA is the first step to a career in networking or information technology.

The course breakdown, with emphasis on the Cisco CCNA preparation, includes:
Information Technology Assistant- 150hrs
Computer Support Assistant- 150hrs
Network Support Assistant-150hrs
Network Administrator-150hrs
Senior Network Administator-150hrs
Wireless Network Administrator-150hrs
Data Communications Analyst-150hrs

Recommended certification exams include:

  • Certiport IC³ Sessions 1 through 3. IC³ is the starting point for industry certification.
  • The CompTIA Network+ exam validates the knowledge and skills of networking professionals. It is an international, vendor-neutral certification
  • The Cisco CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician) certification validates the skills required for entry-level network support positions.
  • Cisco CCNA (ICND1 and ICND2 combined) exam is the composite exam associated with the Cisco Certified Network Associate certification.
